Have You Been Accused of Snoring?
Snoring is the sound of paritally obstructed breathing during sleep... sometimes it's harmless, but it can also be the sign of a more serious medical condition known as Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA).
OSA occurs when the soft tissue in a person's throat repeatedly collapses and blocks the airway during sleep. Typically lasting between ten and thirty seconds, some episodes of OSA can persist for one minute or longer. And these pauses can happen hundreds of times a night, leading to abrupt reductions in blood oxygen levels.

Oral Appliance Therapy
Custom made oral appliances, similar to orthodontic retainers or sports mouth guards, reposition the tongue and lower jaw forward during sleep to maintain an open airway. Dentists trained in dental sleep medicine, such as Dr. Zabner, know how to select, fabricate, fit, and adjust these devices to help patients breathe freely during sleep.
Did you know that 25 to 50 percent of sleep apnea patients do not comply with or tolerate CPAP?
Oral appliance therapy is indicated for mild to moderate OSA patients if they prefer it to, or cannot tolerate CPAP, or are unable to use positional therapy or weight loss to control their sleep apnea. Dr. Zabner works along with your physician in making oral appliances that eliminate the need for Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) machines in most cases.
